Checking a Pakistani Company Registration Before You Order
The direct answer: registration confirms that a company with that name legally exists. It says nothing about whether the goods exist, whether the supplier is who they say they are, or whether they will ship. Use registration as a filter that removes the clearly wrong, not as an assurance that the right.

What the document should show
Ask for the company registration certificate, the registered address, and the NTN or tax reference if the supplier claims to be an exporter. Check that the company name matches the name on the bank account instruction exactly, including the word order and any legal suffix.
Then check the date. A company registered very recently is not disqualified, but it is a different risk profile from one with years of trading history, and you should price that difference into how much you pay before delivery.
What registration does not tell you
It does not tell you the goods exist. Plenty of real companies with real registrations sell stock that has already been sold twice. It does not tell you the factory is theirs, if they are a trader. And it does not protect your payment.
This is the most common misunderstanding in this market: treating paperwork as if it were the same as verification of the goods. It is one input, and the one that is easiest to obtain.
The parts that take minutes and are worth doing
Confirm the registered name matches the payment account name. Confirm the address is a real business address and not a residential one. Confirm the supplier can explain, specifically, what they did last week. Confirm an independent reference exists.
None of these require an agency or a lawyer. All of them remove a large share of the risk, and the ones that fail are informative on their own.

Buyer questions, answered
Do I need a lawyer to verify a supplier in Pakistan?
Not to start. The checks that remove most risk are documentary and behavioural: name matching, address plausibility, factory evidence, and an independent reference. Formal legal verification is worth it only for a large first order where the amount at risk justifies the cost and the delay.
What if a supplier refuses to share registration details?
Treat it as a refusal. A legitimate exporter has this document and there is no commercial reason a serious buyer cannot see it. Walk away without further discussion, because the next issue you will hit will be harder to explain.
Does the registered address need to be a factory?
No. Many exporters are registered at an office while production is outsourced. What matters is that the address is real and that the supplier can tell you plainly who actually produced the goods.
